Welcome

Hello, my name is Dionne and I have been crafting for a very long time. As a very young child my mother tried to teach me to knit, it was a disaster. However, it must have sparked an interest in making things and, partly to prove that I was not totally useless and partly because I really wanted to make things, I taught myself to crochet. Over the years I have developed a love of cross stitch and all types of paper craft ..... I eventually even taught myself to knit.

I am married to a very understanding man, thank goodness, because I spend all my time either crafting, thinking about crafting or talking about crafting. I am hopeless at housework and dinner is often late!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Up the Hammers

The other day I mentioned that in future I shall be sharing with you some of my knitting.  I have only recently taken up knitting and, in truth, I am not very experienced.  I am slow and find my Fairisle is loose (and I lack the courage to tackle Aran) but I enjoy plain knitting.

Up until recently I have made little cardigans and jumpers for my great nieces and nephews and for the new babies born to friends.  However, a few months ago I decided to make Christmas presents for some of my family and friends.

The other day I shared with you a crochet scarf I made for my niece.  Today I am back to share a knitted scarf and bobble (beanie) hat I made for a special friend.  As you would have gathered this friend is a West Ham fan, or so rumoured has it!

Both the hat and scarf were made with Double Knit (Worsted).  The scarf is simply rows of 1x1 rib, each stripe of colour is six inches wide and I made the scarf 6'6" long (or 7'6" of you include the tassells).  I used a pattern I purchased from ebay for the hat, the West Ham badges also came from ebay.

I hope you have a very happy weekend.

    1. I am so pleased to hear that you are enjoying seeing some of my other interests. I was so very nervous about sharing knitting projects as some people seemed to be a little dismissive. I have a lot of baby cloths to share and more of the above. However, my latest project is taking longer
to make but I think it will be worth the wait ....fluffy bunnies!

    2. I felt the same way about showing my photographs of the wildlife. I know not everyone cares about wild animals, but it's a part of who I am now. The way I look at it is, people who don't care about all of the parts of my blog will just stop visiting or ignore the photos and only comment on the card. Notice I don't get a 100 comments any more? There's a reason for that, because I spend my time with genuine friends and not people trolling for comments on their own blogs. Oops, got carried away again my friend. lol. Anyway, I look forward to seeing any and all of your creations, whatever they may be!! hugs :)

    3. I thought about having a seperate blog for my knitting, or perhaps, a different page on my blog. Did you ever think of doing that? I am so pleased you did not, I think it is better to keep everything in one place and you can tell from the comments you get that the people visiting your blog now love your wildlife photos.

I have found a couple of really good soft toy designers on Ravelry - bears, rabbits, elephants, mice but no squirrels. Clearly, they are missing something here.
